Department Workshops, ESL Study Groups, ARC Tutoring, Midpoint Review Workshops

The Academy Resource Center (ARC) offers ESL Study Groups, ARC Tutoring, and Midpoint Review Workshops, as well as other workshops, on a variety of topics of interest to art students throughout the semester. These services are free of charge, and Academy students are encouraged to attend. The ARC also publicizes the Department Workshops that are offered by the corresponding art and design, Liberal Arts, and graduate departments at the Academy.

Department Workshops
Department Workshops All of the Academy departments offer drop-in workshops, where students can receive help with homework or other class assignments, or work on specific techniques with an instructor's assistance.

ESL Study Groups
The ESL Department Art Support program offers a variety of study groups in language-supported classes. Both international and domestic students who are taking the related course are invited to attend.

ARC Tutoring
The ARC Tutoring office provides remedial, one-on-one tutoring at no charge to qualifying students (graduate and undergraduate) by request or referral.

Tutoring is available for 1-2 hours per week throughout the semester and is provided free-of-charge by current faculty and technical staff.

Students should make use of other available services (such as Department Workshops) before requesting tutoring. Students should attend Department Workshops regularly to avoid falling behind.

ARC Tutoring Criteria:
Students receiving tutoring must meet one or more of the following criteria:

• Currently on Academic Probation (AP)
• Re-taking the class due to failure (grade of C– or lower) in a previous semester
• Currently receiving a grade of C– or lower in the class (Week #4 or later)*
*For grades of C or higher, request must be approved by ARC Tutoring Director
• Documented disability (paperwork on file with Classroom Services)
• Other documented circumstances approved by ARC Tutoring Director

Midpoint Review Workshops
Midpoint Review workshops are open to all graduate students who are preparing for their midpoint reviews. Workshops are held Fall and Spring semesters.
